BI to deport four foreign nationals

4 foreign nationals arrested in Cavite for disrespecting the Philippine flag will face deportation cases, according to the Immigration Bureau (BI).

The Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines, according to Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco, was violated by three Pakistanis and one Romanian.

They were caught on June 26 pulling down the flag, damaging it, and throwing it away near the Marine Base, according to the Cavite Police Provincial Office.

A statement by Tansingco read , “Foreigners staying here must respect our laws and our country.”. It stated, “Foreigners destroying the symbols of our country show utter disrespect and should not be treated as guests.”.

It is punishable by a fine of up to 20,000 dollars or by imprisonment for up to a year if a person fails to respect the flag.

Four people are being held at the bureau’s warden facility in Taguig, according to the bureau.
