A celebration of Angat Buhay’s first anniversary

The former vice president led the celebration of the first anniversary of her non-government organization, Angat Buhay Foundation, which she founded and chaired after she left office last year.

He highlighted the milestones the organization has achieved since it was founded in Taguig, speaking to volunteers and institutional partners.

Angat Buhay’s goals must be achieved with more work from volunteers and partners, she said.

Angat Buhay has supported 20,131 families and 15,636 individuals across 176 communities since its founding, according to a report released by the organization.

With the help of 285 medical volunteers and more than 1,000 non-medical volunteers, the foundation’s flagship telemedicine program assisted 7,706 unique patients.

The foundation’s nutrition program, which operates in seven sites across the country, serves at least 1,214 underweight and severely underweight children.

The Angat Buhay Foundation also established 137 learning hubs to benefit at least 5,000 learners who struggle with reading and numeracy.

Several classrooms and dormitories were also completed and turned over in Camarines Sur and Maasin, Iloilo, as well as dormitories in Infanta, Quezon, and Camarines Norte.

Over the past year, 93 communities affected by natural disasters and man-made disasters received immediate relief, assistance, and rehabilitation programs.

Angat Buhay executive director Raffy Magno said, “We are just getting started.” We are sending a message to millions of Filipinos, telling them they are not alone in demanding meaningful participation. Filipinos who have faith in volunteerism and in themselves embody the aspiration of Angat Buhay.”

Robredo launched Angat Bayanihan last year as well, an organization that empowers and helps people-led organizations serve their communities.

There have been 188 grassroots organizations mobilized since then, as well as 13,705 individual volunteers. There have been medical missions, relief distributions, and community kitchens organized by the network.

As part of achieving the goal of reaching those on the fringes of society, Robredo urged institutional partners to also support grassroots organizations.
